Bank holidays, shut down and skeleton staff can result in changes to Christmas pay dates. If you’re thinking of changing your pay date you need to consider the below…

Check your Employment Contracts

Make sure they are clear and concise. If the Christmas pay date does not meet the clause in your employment contract you could be breaking the terms of the contract.

Think about BACs Pay Dates

With the bank holidays it’s easy to get confused but remember you need 3 days for a BACs payment to clear.

  • Pay date Tuesday 24th December 2019 – BACs needs to be submit.ted no later than Friday 20th December 2019.
  • Pay date Friday 27th December 2019 – BACs needs to be submitted no later than Monday 23rd December 2019.
  • Pay date Friday 3rd January 2020 – BACs needs to be submitted no later than Monday 30th December 2019.

RTI Submissions

If you are changing your Christmas pay date keep your RTI submissions’ dates the same as your usual pay date, otherwise this will have an affect on Universal Credit’s for your employees.

Tell your Employees

Most importantly let your workers know in advance when they’ll be paid!
